The president of the New York University (NYU) College Republicans, Kaya Walker, has resigned following controversial comments she made about Barron Trump, the youngest son of former President Donald Trump. Barron, who recently began his studies at NYU’s Stern School of Business, became the subject of Walker’s remarks during an interview with Vanity Fair.
Walker described Barron as “sort of like an oddity on campus,” noting that he “goes to class, he goes home.” She also mentioned that one of her professors joked that Barron “doesn’t really belong here,” referencing NYU’s historically liberal environment. Additionally, a classmate shared an anecdote about Barron being closely monitored by plainclothes Secret Service agents, which limited his ability to engage in casual activities like playing basketball.

The College Republicans of America (CRA) quickly addressed the situation, stating that Walker’s comments did not align with the organization’s values. They acknowledged that while Vanity Fair may have framed the remarks unfairly, the content was still deemed inappropriate. Walker submitted her resignation shortly after the controversy erupted.
In their statement, the CRA reaffirmed their support for former President Trump and even extended an invitation to Barron to join their organization, praising his potential as a future leader in the conservative movement.
