Georgia Community Mourns After Apparent Murder-Suicide Claims Three Lives

A quiet Georgia neighborhood has been shaken by a devastating tragedy that claimed the lives of three people, including an unborn child. Authorities in Dalton are investigating what appears to be a murder-suicide involving 37-year-old Kevin Akins, his wife Rebeca, and his pregnant girlfriend Cindel Rhoden.

The grim discovery began when concerned coworkers reported 35-year-old Rebeca Akins missing after she failed to show up for work. Police forced entry into her Murray Avenue apartment on May 23rd, finding her deceased from a gunshot wound. Surveillance footage led investigators to Kevin, who was later found dead alongside 33-year-old Cindel Rhoden at a Shadow Lane apartment. Both had suffered gunshot wounds, with evidence suggesting Kevin shot Cindel before turning the weapon on himself.

The tragedy has left two families grappling with unimaginable loss. Rebeca’s sister Emily Landen shared that the couple had been together for two decades, with all financial matters tied to Kevin. Cindel’s family revealed she was five months pregnant with Kevin’s child while raising two daughters from a previous relationship. Both families have established GoFundMe campaigns to cover funeral expenses and support the children left behind.
