Beef, Netflix’s new TV series, has finally made its highly-anticipated debut, and let’s just say that fans can’t get enough of it.
Starring Steven Yeun and Ali Wong, the 10-part comedy series created by Lee Sung Jin for the production company A24, tells the story of two strangers and their newfound feud which was ignited by a random road rage incident.
Unbeknownst to them, the failing contractor and the unfulfilled entrepreneur are now involved in a clash that seems to bring out their deepest and darkest impulses.
Even though the series only hit our screens four days ago, it has already been hailed as one of the “best watches” of the year, scoring an almost perfect score of 99% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Not only that but it’s rare to find a show that has been praised by fans and critics alike.
The Telegraph’s Benji Wilson also had nothing but positive points to add, stating that “Wong and Yeun are both superlative from the first scene and the script is terrific too: wickedly funny, deft and smart. There is nary a false note in the opening episodes, which are as more-ish as chocolate biscuits.”
Jack King from British GQ added that Beef was “the best Netflix show since Squid Game” going on to commend A24 saying: “…It’s hard to tear them down when they’re routinely putting out works like Beef — the first wagyu cut served up in the Netflix steakhouse in an age.”
Viewers also made their opinions heard, taking to Twitter to praise the new Netflix show.
“Me trying to stay sane after watching the most riveting show in a while,” wrote one user. “They ate down with the casting, performances, and writing. Soundtracks were insane… A multilayered that touches on so many underlying issues (mental health, trauma, and familial duties).”
“I just finished #BEEFNetflix #beef and wow. One of the best shows I’ve seen in a while. Amazing performances all around. Yeun and wong are fantastic. Funny, thrilling and anxiety inducing. What a show. Netflix has a WINNER,” another added.
A third stated that “BEEF is the best Netflix show I’ve ever seen.”
And this user also agreed with that stance.
And it seems as though celebs were also joining in on the hype with actress and fellow funnywoman Mindy Kaling also expressing that she thoroughly enjoyed the show.
The people have well and truly spoken.
If this doesn’t make you want to watch Beef now, I don’t know what will.
