Adam Schiff Declines to Join Trump’s California Wildfire Tour

Senator Adam Schiff has decided not to accompany President Donald Trump on his visit to California to assess the wildfire damage. A spokesperson for Schiff stated that he must remain in Washington, D.C., to participate in crucial nomination votes rather than traveling with the President.

Schiff appreciates Trump’s decision to witness the wildfire devastation firsthand and acknowledges the invitation to join him. However, due to prior commitments, he is unable to be present in Los Angeles. The senator remains dedicated to collaborating with the Trump administration, local authorities, and colleagues from both parties to ensure California receives the necessary aid and support for recovery.

Trump’s visit marks his first trip of his second administration, focusing on areas affected by natural disasters where political disputes have influenced the response. On Friday, he traveled to Los Angeles, which has been devastated by wildfires, and to North Carolina, which was recently hit by Hurricane Helene.

Trump has criticized the way the Biden administration handled relief efforts for Hurricane Helene in North Carolina. Speaking to reporters before departing from the White House, he assured that the situation would be resolved and expressed his frustration over how long the issue had been left unaddressed since the hurricane struck in September.
