In a heartfelt interview on the “Sage Steele Podcast,” Kathie Lee Gifford shared a harrowing story from the 1990s, revealing how Donald Trump played a crucial role in protecting her and her daughter during a life-threatening situation. The TV host and singer-songwriter opened up about the terrifying incident, which occurred while she was preparing to host the Miss America Pageant.

At the time, Kathie was carrying her newborn daughter when the FBI informed her husband, Frank Gifford, that a dangerous criminal was targeting her. The FBI advised Frank to act normally to avoid alerting the suspect, but he was deeply concerned for his wife’s safety. In a moment of desperation, Frank turned to Donald Trump for help. Without hesitation, Trump assured Frank, “Don’t worry about it. Your girls are with me.”
True to his word, Trump took immediate action. He sent a team of security guards to protect Kathie and even provided his private helicopter to ensure she and her daughter could return home safely. Armed guards were stationed outside her hotel room, offering 24-hour protection. Kathie recalled being unaware of the full extent of the danger until she saw a newspaper headline about the death threat against her.
Despite the terrifying circumstances, Kathie refused to back down. “Hell no!” she said when asked if she wanted to withdraw from hosting the pageant. “I won’t be terrified of anyone.” The event went on as planned, and Kathie was safely escorted home afterward.

Reflecting on the ordeal, Kathie expressed her enduring gratitude for Trump. “My daughter’s life was saved by Donald, and he would do it again if I called him today,” she said. “Nobody knows that about him.” Her story sheds light on a lesser-known side of Trump and the deep bond of trust between them.
