During the conversation, Trump urged Zelenskyy to negotiate with Russia, warning that continued reliance on U.S. support was uncertain. A viral video clip from the meeting captured Trump bluntly telling Zelenskyy, “You either make a deal or we’re out.” He further added, “Don’t tell us what we’re going to feel. We decide that for ourselves.”
Zelenskyy remained firm in his stance, reiterating Ukraine’s commitment to defending its sovereignty. However, Trump continued pressing him, stating, “You’re not in a strong position. You’ve allowed yourself to be in a bad spot. You’re gambling with millions of lives! You’re betting on World War III.”

He also criticized Zelenskyy’s past actions, pointing out that he had visited Pennsylvania in October to campaign for political opponents.

Zelenskyy left the White House without making further public remarks but later posted on social media: “Thank you, America, for your support and this visit. A just and lasting peace is what Ukraine needs, and we continue working toward that goal.”
Trump also addressed the meeting on his Truth Social platform, describing it as an important but intense discussion. He claimed the conversation revealed Zelenskyy’s unwillingness to seek peace as long as U.S. support was in play. “I am not seeking advantage; I seek peace,” Trump wrote. “His attitude in the Oval Office was disrespectful. He may return when he is ready.”
The meeting underscored the deep divisions between the two leaders on how to handle the ongoing war. While Zelenskyy continues to push for increased Western aid, Trump has signaled a desire to scale back U.S. involvement.
