Consumer-Focused Angle

Nintendo fans can breathe easier today as the company confirmed its Switch 2 console won’t see immediate price hikes despite looming tariffs. The gaming giant announced the 449.99basepriceand499.99 Mario Kart bundle will remain unchanged when pre-orders begin April 24. This comes as welcome news after fears that President Trump’s proposed 24% tariff on Japanese imports could push the console’s cost above $560.

While core hardware and software prices stay firm for now, Nintendo warned that accessories will see price increases and future adjustments remain possible. The company delayed pre-orders from their original April 9 date to assess the tariff situation, which currently faces a 90-day pause as US and Japanese officials negotiate. Gamers eyeing the June 5 launch may want to secure their consoles before the tariff pause expires in July.
