Dylan O’Brien’s Sibling Speaks Out About Lack of Support

Julz, the transgender sibling of actor Dylan O’Brien, has publicly addressed what they describe as a lack of support from their famous brother. This comes months after O’Brien spoke about having a trans sibling during press for his film “Ponyboi,” where he played a supporting role in the LGBTQ+ themed thriller.

In a now-deleted Instagram comment responding to a Gay Times post praising O’Brien’s allyship, Julz revealed they haven’t spoken to the actor in over a year. “He didn’t check in when I had top surgery,” Julz wrote. “He didn’t even wish me a happy birthday last week.” Records show Julz underwent gender-affirming surgery in December 2023.

The Maze Runner star had previously told Vulture that having a trans sibling “deepens my experience in this world,” earning praise from co-star River Gallo. However, Julz clarified their pronouns (he/they) and suggested their brother’s public support hasn’t translated to personal connection. Instagram activity shows O’Brien last appeared on Julz’s social media in mid-2023.
