The Duck Police Chase That Went Wild

Officer Thompson was doing his usual patrol when he spotted something unusual – an old pickup truck slowly making its way down Main Street with what appeared to be dozens of ducks crammed into the bed. The birds were quacking loudly, flapping their wings, and generally causing a scene. He immediately turned on his lights and pulled the vehicle over.

As he approached the driver’s window, an elderly gentleman with twinkling eyes and a weathered face rolled down his window. “Afternoon, officer,” he said cheerfully, completely unfazed by the chaotic scene in his truck bed. The officer sternly informed him, “Sir, you can’t just drive around town with a truck full of loose ducks like this. It’s a public nuisance and a safety hazard. I’m going to need you to take these ducks straight to the zoo immediately.”

The old man nodded understandingly, tipped his hat, and promised he would take care of it right away. Officer Thompson watched as the truck slowly drove off, the ducks still quacking merrily as they disappeared down the road.

The next afternoon, Officer Thompson couldn’t believe his eyes when he spotted the same pickup truck – but now every single duck was wearing tiny, perfectly-fitted sunglasses! They looked like they were ready for a day at the beach rather than a trip to the zoo. The officer immediately pulled the truck over again.

“Sir!” he exclaimed, “I specifically told you yesterday to take these ducks to the zoo! What is this?” The old man just grinned from ear to ear and replied, “Oh we did go to the zoo yesterday, officer, just like you said. But when we got back, these little rascals started quacking up a storm about wanting to go to the beach today. Who was I to say no?” Officer Thompson stood speechless as the truck full of sunglass-wearing ducks drove off toward the shoreline, leaving him questioning everything about his career choice.
