Tourist Learns Hard Lesson After Crawling Into Crocodile Enclosure for Selfie

A vacation turned into a nightmare for a 29-year-old tourist who suffered severe injuries after entering a crocodile enclosure at Kabug Mangrove Park and Wetlands Zoo. The incident occurred on April 28 when the visitor mistook a 15-foot crocodile named Lalay for a plastic decoration and climbed over safety barriers to take photos.

Eyewitnesses reported the man ignored shouted warnings as he waded into the shallow pool where the massive reptile lay motionless. The terrifying attack began when Lalay suddenly lunged, clamping its powerful jaws on the man’s arm before dragging him underwater. For nearly 30 minutes, zoo staff struggled to distract the animal while the victim endured multiple bites, including a devastating thigh wound.

Emergency medical teams needed to administer 50 stitches to close the man’s injuries, though miraculously he sustained no broken bones or life-threatening damage. Local authorities criticized the tourist’s reckless behavior, noting the clear warning signs and barriers he disregarded. Zoo management has since reinforced security measures while reminding visitors that animal enclosures exist for everyone’s protection.
