Leslie groaned as she boarded the plane, her head pounding from last night’s party. “Never again,” she muttered, popping painkillers. The glamorous life of a flight attendant wasn’t always so glamorous.
Mid-flight, a faint whimpering caught her attention. Following the sound, she discovered a terrified little boy hiding in the lavatory. “I’m Ben,” he sniffled, clutching a paper bag. “I got lost trying to save my grandma.”
As Ben poured out his story – how he’d mistaken another woman for his mother and accidentally boarded the wrong flight with his grandmother’s medicine – Leslie’s heart ached. She knew all about desperate attempts to help family.
The real shock came when they landed. With no one to claim Ben, Leslie found herself temporarily responsible for the boy. Her plans for LA nightlife evaporated as she became an unexpected babysitter.
Then came the phone call that shattered her: her own son Joe was sick back home. As Leslie broke down, Ben did something extraordinary – he offered his grandmother’s medicine. “For your Joe,” he said simply.
This act of kindness sparked a chain reaction that would change both their lives forever.
