After 17 Years, Firefighter Breaks Silence About Testifying Against His Mother in Sister’s Murder

Seventeen years ago, a seven-year-old boy’s heartbreaking testimony sent his mother to prison for murdering his sister. Now a 24-year-old firefighter, A.J. Hutto is speaking out about that traumatic day and the abuse he endured.

In 2008, young A.J. took the stand in a Florida courtroom and described through tears how his mother, Amanda Lewis, “got mad” and “dunked” his seven-year-old sister Adrianna in their family pool. His simple yet devastating words – “Mama dunked my sister” – along with a child’s drawing showing his mother’s hand over Adrianna’s face, helped convict Lewis of first-degree murder.

Now an adult, A.J. confirms he stands by every word of his childhood testimony. “I just told them exactly what I saw,” he told the Daily Mail, explaining he only fully understood the impact of his words years later. He describes his early life as filled with “darkness, trauma, and a lot of abuse” that he and Adrianna, his “best friend,” suffered together.
