After an exhausting work week, all I wanted was some peace during my flight. I settled into my seat, ready to lose myself in a movie and forget about my stress. But my relaxation plans were quickly ruined by the young woman sitting in front of me.
As soon as we took off, she flung her long hair over the back of her seat—right onto my tray table, blocking my screen. I politely asked her to move it, and she complied—at first. But minutes later, her hair was back in my space. I asked again, and this time, she ignored me completely.
That’s when I decided enough was enough.
I quietly chewed three pieces of gum, then carefully worked them into her hair, strand by strand. When she finally turned around and realized what had happened, her shock was priceless. “What is this?!” she shrieked, desperately trying to pull the gum out.
I kept my voice calm. “That’s what happens when you ignore people.” I gave her two choices: sit through the flight with gum in her hair, or let me cut it out with my manicure scissors.
She chose neither—instead, she spent the rest of the flight with her hair tightly wrapped in a bun. I finally got to enjoy my movie in peace.
