There’s big news from Michael J. Fox.

After the death of his beloved companion, twelve-year-old Great Dane-Labrador mix Gus, Michael J. Fox, who is best known for his famous role in “Back to the Future,” is feeling very sad.

Fox had had Gus in her life for twelve years, and he had been there for her through all of her ups and downs. Without Gus, his loyal friend, by his side, the artist has to face the world.

Fox wrote on social media, “Gus—great dog and loyal friend, we’ll miss you.” along with a touching picture of Gus. One million people follow Fox on the site. In his 2020 book, “No Time Like The Future: an Optimist Considers Mortality,” pages 220–222, the actor also called Gus his “wonder dog,” someone who brought him happiness and love.

Fox’s life was changed a lot by Gus, especially during the 20 years that he was publicly struggling with Parkinson’s disease. In his biography, the star talked about how important Gus was and how much his family will miss him as an important part of the family.

“I didn’t save Gus,” Fox writes as she thinks about their close friendship. You could say that he saved me, but he wouldn’t be that cocky about it. Fox said that Gus’s constant company made him feel better when he felt alone because of his health problems.

Fox said that having a dog like Gus made her feel like she was part of a group and gave her extra strength even though she was very sick. He believes that having a dog can give you much-needed company and help you get over the loneliness that often comes with having health problems.

Fox also got better physically with Gus’s help. After Fox had surgery on his spinal cord in 2018 that left him unable to walk, Gus was very important in helping him get back on his feet. Fox remembered with love, “He sat in front of the wheelchair right in front of me and made this low woof woof, woof woof sound around it.” I told him, “It’s going to be okay,” as he turned to face me.

Like everyone else, Michael J. Fox finds it hard to lose a pet they loved. While we send our condolences, let’s also take a moment to appreciate what a great friendship Fox and Gus have. A close friend’s death leaves a big hole in Fox’s heart, but he will always remember and love that person.
