Whoopi Goldberg isn’t holding back against those who want “The View” canceled over its political discussions. The EGOT-winning cohost fired back at critics who claim the show pushes a specific agenda, making it clear that the panel’s debates are about sharing perspectives—not dictating beliefs.
“People assume they know everything I think and believe,” Goldberg said during a recent episode. “They don’t. The whole point of this show is to let people speak their minds, not to tell you what to think.”
Her comments came after a heated discussion about California Governor Gavin Newsom’s policies, including his stance on transgender athletes in women’s sports—a topic that often sparks strong reactions. Goldberg defended the show’s format, emphasizing that disagreements at the table are part of healthy debate, not personal attacks.
“People say, ‘Take The View off the air,’ but what they really don’t like is that we give everyone a voice,” she continued. “We say, ‘This is what I think,’ and that’s how conversations happen.”
While the show has faced backlash for its fiery clashes—like the recent argument between Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin over Donald Trump—Goldberg insists that the debates stay respectful, even when tensions run high.
“The minute it gets personal, it becomes ugly,” she said. “We don’t do that here.”
