Beloved Soap Opera Icon Denise Alexander Passes Away at 85

The world of daytime television has lost a true legend. Denise Alexander, best known for her groundbreaking role as Dr. Lesley Webber on General Hospital, has passed away at the age of 85. Her death, which occurred on March 5, 2025, was announced by General Hospital executive producer Frank Valentini, who shared a heartfelt tribute on Instagram.

Alexander’s career spanned nearly five decades, leaving an indelible mark on soap operas. She first rose to fame as Susan Martin on Days of Our Lives in 1966 before making a bold move to General Hospital in 1973. Her portrayal of Lesley Webber, one of the first female doctors in daytime TV, earned her a special place in fans’ hearts. Though she left the show in 1984, she made a triumphant return in 1996 and continued making appearances until her final one in 2021.

Fans and co-stars alike have been sharing their grief and admiration for Alexander. Susan Seaforth Hayes, her former Days of Our Lives co-star, remembered her as a kind, talented, and inspiring friend. “She was a romantic at heart and cheered on love wherever she saw it,” Hayes wrote in a touching tribute.
