The small community of Appanoose County, Iowa, is mourning the heartbreaking loss of 17-year-old Ayden Beeson, a beloved high school student who tragically drowned just one hour after being reported missing. The incident occurred on June 26, 2024, while Ayden was swimming in Rathbun Lake. Witnesses reported that he suddenly went underwater and never resurfaced.
Emergency responders, including the Appanoose County Water Rescue team, rushed to the scene but were unable to save him. His body was later recovered in 15 to 20 feet of water, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
