Martin Frizell, husband of beloved TV presenter Fiona Phillips, has opened up about the emotional challenges their family faces as Fiona battles early-onset Alzheimer’s. The 64-year-old broadcaster, who revealed her diagnosis three years ago, continues her courageous fight against the disease that previously affected both her parents.

On Mother’s Day, Martin shared a poignant tribute on Instagram, posting a radiant photo of Fiona from four years ago – just before her symptoms began appearing. “If Mother’s Day is tough, you’re not alone,” he wrote alongside the touching snapshot of his wife smiling at the camera. He described it as his favorite picture of “a wonderful mother” to their two sons, Nat and Mackenzie.
The This Morning editor followed this with another meaningful post – a photo of the engraved glass award Fiona received as “Mum of the Year” in 2007. Martin emphasized this honor meant more to their family than any of her professional accolades, calling it “more important in our house than any BAFTA, NTA or RTS.”
Despite her health struggles, Fiona is currently working on a memoir titled “Remember When” with support from Martin and journalist friend Allison Phillips. The book, set for publication in July 2025 by Pan Macmillan, promises to be both a moving personal account and an important examination of living with Alzheimer’s, told with Fiona’s trademark honesty.
